Hello, my name is Kota Ogawa and I am the creator of this product and project.

Introduced on TV in Japan, the very popular "SchuBELT" 5-way bag has been further improved and is now available in the "SchuBELT S" model, and in a larger size, "SchuBELT L"!

The "SchuBELT L" is a new 4-way bag that expands in size, created in response to many requests!

When you are not carrying it on your back, backpack straps tend to be in the way!

Same thing when you put a backpack on a luggage rack, in a basket at a café, or on the floor in a room!

That is why we invented an unobtrusive bag with a strap that disappears with a swoosh!

No need to change bags to fit the situation!

Retractable straps, and length memory to adjust the length with one touch!

The SchuBELT S is a 5-way backpack, shoulder bag, handbag that can be carried both vertically and horizontally (as a briefcase), and carry-on bag.

The SchuBELT L is a 4-way bag with an expandable size, that can be used as a backpack, handbag (vertically and horizontally as a briefcase), and carry-on bag.

To Adjust the length of the webbings, just push and adjust.

The bag memorizes the length!

Both are well balanced to stand by themselves vertically and horizontally (also depending on the balance of the content). The straps are sucked into the interior of the bag by an original mechanism when it is not used.

  • Cleverly designed pockets
  • The backpack shoulder straps fit perfectly with the embossing and magnets.
  • The strap of the shoulder bag is also equipped with a hidden magnet so it never gets in the way!

About the Creator

Kota Ogawa ( Representative of Edison Labs, Inc.) is the inventor of flick input, etc. and is also a patent attorney. His great-grandfather, Kunihiko Iwadare, was a disciple of Thomas Edison and founder of Nippon Electric Co. Ltd. He is also a composer for AKB48 and Momoiro Clover Z, and the vocalist of "Kota Ogawa & Tomason". He regularly appears on FM Yokohama's weekly "SHONAN by the Sea". He is also the founder of the invention-driven product brand "EDISON LAB" and will continue to introduce new products to the world!

When creating something new, the first thing I do is find the "problem". SchuBELT's first innovation was to realize that the "straps are in the way". The first Schubert engine sketch was drawn on the back of some random paper, as shown below, and from here, the invention took shape.

I wondered what I should do about these straps. Then I remembered the belt of my Volkswagen Type 2. My Volkswagen mini bus is an old car, so the seat belts do not automatically wind up. So, I bought a retrofitting winding part and attached it to my bag.

At least with this I could roll up the straps, but the length adjuster was still in the way. The length adjustment must also be built in, so here is the mechanism I came up with. This mechanism is a basic structure, and will soon be patented.

From this drawing, we turned it into CAD and 3D printed it.

After that, I kept in close contact with the bag manufacturer and continuously made prototypes. This time, I had to find not only a bag manufacturer, but also a spring manufacturer and a plastic injection mold manufacturer. I used the Internet to get sale quotes from all over the world and had prototypes made, and we had to re-do CAD dozens of times, and even the bag maker told me, "We can't do this any more". Every day I was losing money in making prototypes, and I almost lost heart, thinking that I would never be able to complete this project.

When I showed people the prototype bag, they mostly said they wouldn't buy it. But when they saw the finished SchuBELT, they said, "That's really awesome!" and it made me glad I worked so hard on it.
